Paper Handling

Loading paper the right way makes a big difference. Here's how to correctly load paper and avoid common feeding problems.

Do's

  • Use Laser Printer paper only.
  • Keep paper in the original packet and reseal after opening.
  • Store paper at room temperature.
  • Store and stack paper on level, flat surfaces.
  • Change printer settings to match the paper weight being used.

Don'ts

  • Do not use Inkjet paper in your device.
  • Do not leave the paper packaging open.
  • Do not store or stack on uneven surfaces.
  • Do not store paper near draughts, vents or cold temperatures.

If you don't follow the above guidelines, your printer may experience persistent jamming and copy quality issues.

Loading Paper Into The Tray

  1. 1

Pull out the tray towards you, move the lateral guides outward and the back stop to the very rear of the tray.

  2. 2

Remove the paper from the packaging and split the ream in half — this makes it easier to load accurately.

  3. 3

Fan the first half of the paper, place it in the tray against the right-hand side, then move both lateral guides inward.

  4. 4

Fan and place the second half in the tray on top of the first.

  5. 5

Move the back stop flush with the back of the paper stack and double-check the lateral guides are flush too.

  6. 6

Push the paper drawer back into the device.

Note: Do not overfill the tray or crease/stack paper unevenly.
